Ibrahim Mohammed’s Two Years of Right Steps for Birnin-Kebbi, Kalgo, Bunza Federal Constituency

By Yusha’u Zaki Magaji

There’s an African proverb that says, “Kindness is what the deaf hears and the blind see.” In Birnin Kebbi, Kalgo, and Bunza Federal Constituency, this has become a lived reality—thanks to Honourable Ibrahim Mohammed (fondly known as IBM), whose Midas touch has turned long-held hopes into visible transformation.

June 13th, 2025 marks two years since Hon. Ibrahim Mohammed assumed office in the House of Representatives, representing Birnin Kebbi, Kalgo, and Bunza Federal Constituency. In this period, he has delivered the kind of impactful representation that has decisively ended decades of underrepresentation.

The IBM Media Office proudly reflects on a tenure that has been nothing short of remarkable. Through relentless effort, deep compassion, and strategic execution, Hon. Mohammed has rolled out initiatives that touch on the very heart of community well-being—education, health, youth and women empowerment, agriculture, economic upliftment, religious harmony, and infrastructural development.

Education: Reviving Foundations, Building Futures

Education is central to Hon. Mohammed’s vision. He has overseen the construction of a block of classrooms with solar power and complete furnishing at Junju Primary and Secondary School in Birnin Kebbi LGA, and six classroom blocks at Government Day Secondary School in Bunza. Across the constituency, he has distributed learning materials, funded the education of 250 students in tertiary institutions, and awarded ₦100,000 education grants to 160 beneficiaries.

Free JAMB forms have reached students in all three LGAs, and Arabic schools in Kalgo LGA received generators to power learning, student unions, and special needs educators were not left out, with donations of reading materials, scholarships, and financial support.

Healthcare: Bringing Care Closer to the People

Under his leadership, Bunza General Hospital has been renovated and equipped, while birthing kits and essential medicines have been distributed across clinics. The Maurida Ward PHC in Birnin Kebbi LGA has been upgraded with new hospital equipment. Mosquito nets and repellents were distributed in various areas including Bunza’s Raha Ward—simple, life-saving interventions reflecting IBM’s commitment to community health.

Empowerment: Enabling Economic Resilience

Through skill acquisition programs, conditional cash grants, small business support, and equipment distribution, Hon. Mohammed has empowered thousands. Women received sewing machines and fridges; men received motorcycles and vehicles; street vendors benefited from food stock and cash support.

His office facilitated employment into the military, paramilitary, and civil services. Entrepreneurship training, youth programs, and economic interventions have built a new foundation of financial independence for many.

Agriculture: Strengthening the Backbone of the Constituency

Hon. Mohammed understands the importance of agriculture in Kebbi. He distributed fertilizers, seeds, and irrigation machines to hundreds of farmers—boosting productivity and food security. His support has translated to higher yields, better incomes, and more sustainable livelihoods

.

Infrastructural Development: Laying the Groundwork for Growth

Access to clean water and reliable electricity has significantly improved under his watch. New boreholes have been dug, boreholes renovated, transformers supplied, and solar-powered streetlights installed across communities. These interventions have catalyzed better living conditions and enhanced economic and educational outcomes.

Religious and Humanitarian Development: Building Harmony and Hope

True to his inclusive leadership style, Hon. Mohammed has renovated several mosques, including Ujariyo Ward Central Mosque, Dr. Bello Juma’at Mosque, Raha Juma’at Mosque, and others across the constituency. Boreholes have been constructed for mosques, and religious bodies like the Tijjaniya and Izala sects have received generous support.

During Ramadan, he sponsored the distribution of food items to the community. Vulnerable populations—prisoners, orphans, and the less privileged—have consistently received food, blankets, and other essentials through his humanitarian outreach.

Legislative Impact: Speaking Loudly in the National Assembly

Hon. Mohammed’s voice in the National Assembly is resonating loudly. He has sponsored several impactful bills, including the Bill for the Establishment of the Federal College of Dental Technology and Therapy, Birnin Kebbi—which has passed the third reading and awaits harmonization.

Also nearing final passage are the bills for the Federal College of Entrepreneurship and Skills Acquisition, Bunza, and the National Institute for Technical and Vocational Education, Kalgo. These institutions promise long-term benefits in education, innovation, and employment across Kebbi State.

A Symbol of the New Generation

Hon. Ibrahim Mohammed is the youngest federal lawmaker in Nigeria’s history. His accomplishments speak volumes—proof that leadership is not about age but purpose, vision, and action. Even from the opposition bench, he has delivered results that have earned admiration across political divides.

He was recently honoured at the THISDAY/AriseTV Awards, emerging as the recipient of the Global Young Leader Award—a fitting recognition for a man who has become a beacon of service, integrity, and inclusive governance.

As Hon. Ibrahim Mohammed marks two years in office, his work stands as a shining testament to what dedicated, people-centred representation can achieve. His journey is not just a political story—it’s a social revolution. And with more years ahead, the people of Birnin Kebbi, Kalgo, and Bunza look forward with hope and confidence.

By the grace of God, this legacy of service will only grow stronger.
